Know the conditions of entry
The ground rules for visiting the house and using this website, in as few words as we can manage.
Who may enter and what we own
Age limit
Entry to the house, including the dining room, is for people aged 18 and over. Anyone who appears younger may be asked for photo identification, and anyone who cannot show it will be politely turned away. This applies to every guest at every hour, with no exceptions for supper-only visitors.
When someone books for a group, they are asked to confirm that everyone in the party is old enough, and the house may check any member of it at the door. If one guest cannot be admitted, the others are welcome to stay and the booking stands.
Our words and pictures
The text, photographs and design of this website belong to the operator of the venue or are used with permission. You may read them, print a page for your own use and share a link. Please do not copy them for another website or for commercial use without asking us first.
If you would like to use a photograph or a paragraph for a story about the town or the house, write to us first. We are usually glad to say yes, and we would like to check the details are right and credit the photographer.
Links to other sites
This website may link to other sites, such as a map service. Those sites are run by other people with their own policies, and we are not responsible for what they say or do. A link is a convenience, not an endorsement, and you use external pages at your own risk.
We may remove or change a link at any time without notice. If you find a link that no longer works, tell us and we will fix it.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by Australian law. Disputes are for the Queensland courts, unless the law lets you go somewhere else.
Chips, responsibility and complaints
Chips have no value
Games at the house are played on chips that have no cash value and cannot be bought, sold, exchanged for anything or taken away. Roulette, blackjack and poker are offered for entertainment only, in person, in the casino room. Nothing at the tables involves stakes, prizes or winnings of any kind, and nothing is played online.
A tournament ends with a champion, whose name is written on the board. That is the whole reward.
Where our responsibility stops
We take reasonable care of guests, their belongings and the building, but we cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage that is not our fault, such as property left unattended in the house. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Australian consumer law that cannot lawfully be limited.
We try to keep this website accurate, but menus, hours and the weekly rota can change at short notice. Where the website and a phone call disagree, the phone call is right.
We may change or withdraw parts of this website, and we may update these conditions from time to time. Whatever is posted here on the day you visit is what applies to that visit.
If you want to complain
Tell the person on the floor first, because most problems can be fixed on the spot. If you'd prefer to put it in writing, use the email address in the footer, describe what happened and when, and we'll reply with an explanation or an apology within a week.
If you remain unhappy after our reply, you may take the matter further with the consumer or fair trading body in Queensland. We would much rather settle it with you first, and we promise to listen.
